THE VINEYARDS OF EL PEDAL
Terroir
El Pedal de Hermanos Hernáiz wine are made with grapes from the Hernáiz family’s vineyards in five Rioja Alta villages: Fuenmayor, Cenicero, Navarrete, Hornos de Moncalvillo and Baños de Rioja.
Although these vineyards are located in the Rioja Alta region, they are not in an area of such extreme conditions as the family’s most famous estate, La Emperatriz. As a result, the climate is less Atlantic and the wines do not require long ageing to reach their full potential.
In all these vineyards, the Tempranillo and Viura varieties are mainly grown in bush vines over 30 years old.
