The world’s most prestigious wine tourism awards, the Best Of Wine Tourism 2025, organised by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network /Bilbao-Rioja, are a long-awaited moment of the year in our sector. They recognise those wineries that provide the best wine tourism services in the twelve main areas of the world.
Finca La Emperatriz has received in this 2025 edition the well-deserved recognition in the category of sustainable practices in wine tourism. The jury particularly valued our vineyard-focused tours, the MICE events we organise and the refurbishment of the estate’s former workers’ houses, now converted into three villas for charming accommodation at the foot of the vineyard.
The jury also wanted to highlight two elements in our deepest essence: ‘The first is friendliness and kindness, so intangible and valuable in wine tourism. The second is sustainability as a transversal axis, in 360º, present in its vineyard, in its wines and in its wine tourism’.
At Finca La Emperatriz, as this award recognises, we have been developing a global sustainability project in recent years that cuts across all of our winery’s activities. Starting with the vineyard itself and the organic viticulture employed: the use of techniques that generate less impact and make a more efficient use of resources; replacing insecticides with sustainable treatments, eliminating herbicides using mulch or, instead of chemical fertilisers, using compost and the remains of annual pruning, among other good environmental practices.
Thanks to all these practices, in 2023 we achieved organic certification for the 32 hectares of the oldest vineyard on the property, and the future commitment is to certify 100% of our vineyards as organic.
In addition, the visits and tourist experiences we offer at Finca La Emperatriz are focused on walking through our vineyards to get to know the essence of viticulture and the wines we make at the winery. With the refurbishment of the old workers’ houses on the estate, now converted into three eco-villas to stay at the foot of the vineyard with their own garden and orchard, we have achieved a sustainable, unique and special wine tourism experience.
The best finishing touch has been to see recognised with this international award the journey and the work that the winery has been doing in recent years on its path towards environmental sustainability.
