It’s been four years since the Hernáiz brothers launched Las Cenizas, after a decade of devoted work with a resolution to achieve: to recover the style that once made famous the wines of Cenicero, Eduardo and Víctor’s hometown. A tribute to their origin produced from the vineyard plots -Puentarrón, Los Hundidos and Sanchisnal- owned by the family in this Rioja Alta town since the 80s
Las Cenizas 2018 , as usual, is made with Tempranillo. However, the new vintage brings a distinctive seal by incorporating in the blend, and for the first time, 14% of Mazuelo from “Los Hundidos” estate. An exceptionality that has been possible in this vintage, due to the low production per vine and the perfect maturation achieved by this variety.
91 points, Peñín Guide.
The result is a seductive wine with 16 months of aging where the fruit predominates over the wood, with a succulent and juicy style. The endorsement comes from Peñín, that in its 2021 Guide gives 91 points to this limited production of just 12,500 bottles; which are now going into the market with a renewed image and ready to seduce with its sweet and enveloping profile: a distinctive trait of this Rioja Alta wine.
